AgTrials and AgMIP advance collaboration
Cross-posted from AgTrials Blog
Researchers for the AgTrials and AgMIP projects met at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida last week to advance collaboration between the two initiatives. The CCAFS project AgTrials is a file repository and database on evaluation of agricultural technologies, especially varieties that have been tested in crop improvement programs. The Agricultural Model Intercomparision and Improvement Project (AgMIP) is a global project on crop and economic modeling to estimate the impacts of climate change on food production into the future. Several researchers work in both initiatives. Both communities of researchers are working to link data and analysis for improving our capacity to understand climate change impacts. During the week the project teams developed some dynamic links between information resources developed by each initiative. These links are made using system translators that are built on mapping of variables and terminologies used by the initiatives. Both of the initiatives are focused on the use of standards to allow communication across platforms and on protocols for sharing data and other information resources. The two initiatives are considering further collaboration in the future in support of evaluation of agricultural technology under climate change.
