CIAT offers a capacity-building workshop in Hydro-Modeling
CIAT hydro-modeling experts Natalia Uribe, Marcela Quintero and Jefferson Valencia will deliver a course on using the modeling tool ArcSWAT from 6-10 September in Bogota.
The week-long course forms part of a diploma in the Administration of Watersheds (through the University Javeriana, Bogotá), offered to professionals from regional environmental governing bodies, namely the Corporaciones Autonomas Regionales (CARs). This capacity-building opportunity is organized by the Colombian Ministry of the Environment and Territorial Development, in partnership with the World Bank.
The ArcSWAT tool was developed by the University of Texas and has been used by CIAT for quantifying water-related ecosystem services as the step prior to its economic valuation. Through the course of the diploma, participants will also be introduced to a range of other modeling techniques and provided instruction on the scope, application and requirements of these tools.
