Climate change mitigation in Mesoamerican coffee production
Jun 20th, 2011 | By Henk van Rikxoort | Category: Climate ChangeToday a CIAT-DAPA commissioned research on climate change mitigation in Mesoamerican coffee production has been presented to a variety of stakeholders in the coffee sector through an online webinar. The research quantifies the on-farm carbon stocks in different coffee production systems and evaluates the influence of voluntary standards on climate change mitigation. Based on the results a framework for effective climate change mitigation on coffee production level has been developed to accelerate climate change mitigation in Mesoamerica and other coffee growing regions in the world.
