The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security research program (CCAFS) are supporting the elaboration of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) for the agricultural sector through providing governments and donors with decision support tools that link with the best scientific information available. There has been interest in implementing climate-smart agriculture (CSA) options to build agricultural systems that sustainably increase productivity, increase resilience to climate change and variability, and reduce and remove greenhouse gas emissions, while enhancing national food security and development goals. Coherent decision support frameworks are needed to channel investment and to identify the best CSA options given specific social, environmental and economic conditions. Participatory processes are needed to incorporate local information and values into the use of the tool and final outputs, and to ensure that the prioritized CSA portfolios reflect implementation context and stakeholder priorities.

This consultancy seeks an experienced facilitator to engage stakeholders in piloting and operationalizing the CIAT/CCAFS CSA prioritization tool and complementary stakeholder process in Guatemala, and to improve the process based off lessons learned. The outputs of the prioritization process will assist the Guatemalan government in making better investment decisions for CSA that reflect national priorities.
