DAPA research showcased on Voice of America

CIAT’s work to predict the possible impact of climate change on agriculture and food security features in a two-part documentary produced by US broadcaster Voice of America.
In the documentary, Andy Jarvis, head of the Center’s Decision and Policy Analysis (DAPA) program, explains that climate change is likely to change the geography of agriculture, and calls for more research to help small farmers adapt production to a warmer world.

CIAT’s work to predict the possible impact of climate change on agriculture and food security features in a two-part documentary produced by US broadcaster Voice of America.

Part one: Colombian Scientists Predict Climate Change to Affect Most Food Crops

Part two: Farmers Say Climate Change Already Affecting Crops

In the documentary Andy Jarvis explains that climate change is likely to change the geography of agriculture, and calls for more research to help small farmers adapt production to a warmer world.

In Cauca (Colombia) the videos show how farmers are already feeling the effects of climate change, confirming what many of DAPA’s agricultural models are saying.

Just as a side note, CIAT’s work on crop improvement is mostly focussed on traditional crop breeding, and not genetic transformation as seems to be emphasised in the video.
