ICTs and climate change adaptation
As our capacity to predict impacts of climate change on agriculture improve, we need more and more advanced means of getting information to the people who need in order for them to adjust their behaviour. We’re calling this “Grounding Climate Change”, and a fundamental issue is how we can get information down to communities in a means that represents the uncertainties, but facilitates improved decision making. ICTs are clearly going to play an increasingly important role in climate change adaptation. There’s a great blog from Angelica Ospina, a PhD student in the University of Manchester, about ICTs, Climate change and Development that is well worth visiting. Check it out to see what is going on in this arena. We hope to work with Angelica in bringing in an ICT/climate change angle to our site specific development work on fruits. Watch this space.
