Municipal governments and economic development in Nicaragua

Our partners at CRS Nicaragua recently released a video showing the connection between economic development and municipal governments. Key lessons that can be drawn from this work — which forms part of the ACORDAR project — include the need to promote linkages between farmer associations and local governments in addition to more traditional links to buyers, the positive synergies between economic development of a coop and tax receipts for municipal services and investments and the potential for improving the focus of municipal services based on producer needs.
