Nice Tricks on Historical Climate Data
With no doubt, the world has got warmer during the last 160 years (at least). Anything new? Just found this nice post in the California Academy of Sciences blog. If I understood correctly, we have less than 1 in a thousand probability of observing a consistent warming trend in the last three decades (1980s, 1990s, 2000s)? is that right? The original BBC post about the warmest decade since instrumental records began.
And… MetOffice (the ones which made the graphs for the BBC) are trying to get all these instrumental data freely available for the public to refine these conclusions. Despite that, the warming trend will not change when including all the “hidden” data from institutions which haven’t shared it yet, they say.
